It all started in 1995... Meet the legend behind the legacy — Captain Alex Koutsakis. Captain Alex has over fifty-five years of maritime experience, working ashore and at sea on oil tankers, dry cargo vessels, OBO's, gas carriers, and naval vessels. He has held the position of President of PetroMar International Inc. since he formed the company 30 years ago. He was born on the island of Crete, Greece and his experience spans from the Greek Navy as an Ensign/ Commander of an ocean-going tug boat. And later from Greek Owned and operated vessels, to US owned-foreign flagships where he sailed through the ranks to the Master. In 1987 Captain Alex after getting his Master in Marine Transportation from SUNY Maritime, joined Hess Oil in S. Croix as a Loss Control Manager. And in 1995 Capt. Alex founded PetroMar International Inc. in Stamford, Connecticut. Throughout the years, Capt. Alex’s efforts have grown PetroMar to become the largest, most recognized and respected Marine Cargo Loss Control company in the sector.
